"As we sat on the couch recovering from a really bad car accident, we both felt lost and useless. Our incredible friends of the P.O.W. Artists encouraged us and provided art supplies that we could do while immobile, truly showing us how much art can heal. My wife got into sketching, and I got into painting. I saw her frustrated with a vision she just could not bring to life. I encouraged her to keep trying but with all the pain she was in I did not want to push her. She instructed me on exactly what she was envisioning, and this painting is hers as much as mine. 
 
Most people think that the pain from an accident is the worst part, when in reality its the mental anguish that creates the most pain. We were in a hit and run and still to this day the other driver has not been identified because the police have not processed the evidence that was collected. This has caused relentless calls with multiple insurance companies and two separate lawyers trying to help but had to drop our case because there is no one to go after. Our therapy treatments were discontinued suddenly from two different therapy locations because we could not afford and had no case against anyone. Medical bills piling up and more is overwhelming and makes you lose so much hope. Not having anyone to go after, no one seeming to care how much pain and suffering we were facing, only the money owed. To top it off, trying to feel safe traveling again while my wife is suffering badly with PTSD and cannot get the help she needs. 
 
Through all of this though, she wanted to show she is Strong, swimming towards the light and not letting ANYTHING weigh her down and feel like drowning. Dropping that anchor to the depths of the ocean floor and never looking back."  -Wm. Streeper - My husband
